Kujala-Pietilä Treatment incorporates elements from live electronics, microtonality, jazz and contemporary music

Known as sovereign masters of their instruments, composers, and master improvisers, Veli Kujala (accordion) and Esa Pietilä (saxophone) founded a new, innovative duo in 2013. Their music is based on a combination of partially composed and fully improvised material, making effective use of the expressive possibilities of live electronics, jazz, and contemporary music.
The duo’s music is a true fireworks display of timbres and a musical collage, where mind-expanding soundscapes and layered rhythms transport the listener magically into previously unexperienced musical realms. The magical sonic world is enriched with exciting additional elements through motion and camera sensors, as well as other electronic tools. The duo’s unique expression and sound can be described as massive, captivating, electric, virtuosic, tense, and even raw—without forgetting minimalism and delicate playfulness. Within this duo, almost anything is possible, and no musical territory is too sacred or impossible for them!
