PIETILÄ – SAUNAMÄKI

Eero Saunamäki and Esa Pietilä, both specializing in contemporary music and improvisation, join forces. In their concerts, the performers’ shared love for early music—especially the timeless works of J.S. Bach—comes strongly to the fore.

Pietilä and Saunamäki bring together seemingly distant musical elements in an intriguing way, while a contemporary edge in the concerts is realized, among other things, through the use of live electronics. Innovative program design and long-standing experience in diverse musical practices—as solo performers, improvisers, and producers—merge Saunamäki’s and Pietilä’s artistic voices into one deeply moving whole.
