The concerto is originally composed and dedicated to Esa Pietilä by the composer Kalevi Aho. in 2015. The performance takes place this time with conductor Erkki Lasonpalo and Saimaa Sinfonietta, an orchestra located in the eastern part of Finland.
The concerto is colourful and virtuosic piece that travels through the diverse expression palette of the modern tenor saxophone with many extended techniques of saxophone also presented.
